The BA Better World Community Fund was launched in April and has so far invested more than £760,000 in initiatives across the country.
Set up in partnership with Crowdfunder, the fund has been financed by donations from BA customers, the wider public and BA itself.
Initiatives supported by the charitable effort span projects that align with BA’s "people, planet and responsible business" sustainability themes.
Among them is Healthy Kidz, which has run holiday camps across Northern Ireland this summer for more than 1,300 children focusing physical, emotional and mental wellbeing through multi-sport activities and educational sessions.
Another is Bristol-based Flamingo Chicks, which has provided 6,500 dance workshops and classes for children with disabilities and their families, helping them "explore movement through dance".
Other projects to benefit from handouts include Living Streets Portsmouth, which encourages biodiversity within the city centre, and Energy Garden, which has supported the creation of a new garden on the London Overground.
BA has also pledged support for Drug of Art, a community project created by artist Alison Lapper MBE showcasing the positive power of creativity on mental health; BA’s support will fund workshops and podcasts at 500 schools and youth groups across the country, with a focus on tackling loneliness.
BA chief corporate affairs and sustainability officer Lisa Tremble, who chairs the airline’s community governance board, said BA was committed to continuing to help existing and new community-led initiatives and seeing "the positive impact" the fund can have on communities across the UK.
