Sarah Hollands, group product and commercial director, said that putting the two brands under one portal meant agents “don’t need to go anywhere else”. Both companies are owned by The Vertical Travel Group and provide agents 15% gross commission.
Hollands said that expansion meant the number of reservations staff had been increased from two to six, which meant that more group bookings could be handled. Bedbank.com also contracts its own hotels in Greece, Cyprus and the Canary Islands and specialises in hen and stag parties to New York, Las Vegas, Dubai and the Balearics.
Bedbank is now in its 15th year of operation and its restructuring is designed to improve response time to agents.
Hollands added: “Our success is a combination of direct supplier contracts and personal contacts built over 15 years of operation. Agents are fast learning that our speed in responding is reassuring to them which is a contributing factor to the increase in repeat business.”
