Boots is rolling out in-store testing for coronavirus, which will typically be able to provide a pre-flight PCR test result within 48 hours.
The new swab test service will cost £120pp and will be available to anyone not showing symptoms of Covid-19.
It has been designed to allow people to book a test in advance of travel to destinations where a negative Covid test is required.
Testing will be available in ten Boots stores in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, initially for passengers travelling to the UAE.
Boots plans to roll the service out to 50 of its 200 UK stores over the coming weeks, and potentially to more based on demand and feedback.
The service is available as a private pre-flight testing service for customers who require a test before travelling abroad, Boots confirmed.
Boots has also partnered with biotech firm LumiraDx to trial its new screening devices, which Boots says should be able to process Covid swab test results in just 12 minutes – although results from these tests won’t be valid for travel.
Boots said there would be a different process for testing using the LumiraDx devices.
It added it hoped the rollout would "revolutionise the speed of testing across the UK and reduce inappropriate use of the government testing programme".
