Carnival Legend was forced to make an unscheduled stop during a South Pacific cruise after brawls broke out among its mainly Australian passengers.
Footage on board the ship, bound for its home port of Melbourne, shows two groups fighting with security staff trying to intervene. One video clip in The Mirror shows uniformed staff kicking guests on the floor in a bid to break up the fight in one of the public areas. It is alleged that up to 30 guests were involved.
An unspecified number of guests were removed from the vessel following the incidents. Carnival Cruises said: "Safety is the number one priority for Carnival Cruise Line, we take a zero tolerance approach to excessive behaviour that affects other guests and we have acted accordingly on Carnival Legend.
"The ship’s highly trained security staff have taken strong action in relation to a small group of disruptive guests who have been involved in altercations on board.”
