The airline confirmed the move in a trading statement issued on Monday afternoon (March 18).
It has been involved in discussions with Delta Air Lines and Italian state rail operator Ferrovie dello Stato.
The rail company has been conducting negotiations with regards to Alitalia’s affairs.
EasyJet initially expressed an interest in taking a stake in a restructured Alitalia last October, and confirmed talks were ongoing last month.
However, it has since decided to end its interest.
"Following discussions with Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Delta Air Lines about forming a consortium to explore options for the future operations of Alitalia, easyJet has taken the decision to withdraw from the process,” said the airline, adding it remained committed to operations in Italy, where it has bases in Milan, Naples and Venice.
Italy’s deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio, who is leading efforts to revitalise Alitalia, said earlier this month he expected a joint venture involving easyJet and Delta would progress, branding it a “relaunch” rather than a rescue deal.
