Every ship in the Princess Cruises fleet will feature OceanMedallion technology once the line gains approval to restart sailings next year.
OceanMedallion – which sees guests swap a traditional cruise card for a wearable device – will offer new features upon the line’s return, which Princess said would personalise guest experience and support new health protocols.
Coral Princess, Diamond Princess, Emerald Princess, Grand Princess, Island Princess, Majestic Princess and Sapphire Princess have had the technology fitted onboard, while newest ship Enchanted Princess will launch with it already enabled.
Among its services, OceanMedallion offers touchless embarkation and disembarkation, keyless stateroom entry, and food and beverage orders anywhere onboard.
MedallionNet, claimed by Princess to be “the best Wi-Fi at sea”, also features as part of the system.
Princess president Jan Swartz said the line had used its pause in sailings to work “behind the scenes to re-engineer our operation” to give guests “maximum control of their cruise holiday”.
“The same technology we’ve used to simplify and personalise the guest experience on our Princess MedallionClass ships for the past three years is now being further leveraged to safeguard our guests and crew as well,” added Carnival Corporation’s chief experience and innovation John Padgett.
