The South Shields agency sold travel and accommodation packages to 2,200 fans ahead of the match, which Newcastle won 2-1.
The cheapest package – a day-return coach trip – cost £70, which means the agency generated upwards of £154,000 from the final.
Co-owner Graeme Brett believes Sunday’s result could help drive the South Shields-based agency to even greater heights, with fans returning to the shop to book travel around future sporting events as well as their holidays.
Brett said: “A number of customers who came to the branch to collect their travel tickets took brochures away with them.
“They were surprised at the variety of products and services we offer. We’ve potentially acquired a lot of new customers.”
Newcastle are now confirmed to play in Europe next season having won the Carabao Cup, which means Westoe Travel can sell travel packages to fans for each of the games.
When asked how much revenue Westoe generates annually from bookings around sporting events, Brett said: “It depends on the year – some years are better than others. With Newcastle’s cup win, this has been a good year for our local sports teams. Sunderland may get to the Championship play-off final at the end of the season.
’A lot of absenteeism on Monday’
“We’ll now be able to offer packages to Europe because Newcastle have qualified by winning the Carabao Cup. It was great when they were in the Champions League [in the 2023/24 season].”
Brett and his son, grandson and son-in-law were among the 32,000 Newcastle fans lucky enough to get a ticket for the final.
Brett admits “quite a few” customers who organised their travel through his agency did not have match tickets.
Newcastle fans had to wait 70 years for a domestic cup success. Brett also attended the 1974 FA Cup final when a Kevin Keegan-inspired Liverpool beat Newcastle 3-0.
“I was at the 1974 FA Cup Final,” said Brett. “I remember an older bloke saying to me that next time would be better.
“Sunday was an amazing day. When Liverpool got the goal at the end it was a bit worrying but the performance was excellent. It was 7.45pm when we left. The game had finished at 6.15pm but the team did the lap of honour.
“There was a lot of absenteeism in the North East on Monday morning but there were a lot of happy people.”
