Parliament is tied in knots and Britain is increasingly likely to experience a general election before Christmas.
Prime minister Boris Johnson has been attempting to call a general election in order to overhaul the House of Commons and therefore gain support for his Brexit leaving bill.
However, MPs so far are unwilling to back this plan and he had failed three votes in parliament.
Johnson has now changed tack and is proposing a one-page bill for an election in mid-December - which needs support of fewer MPs than his last attempt and may gain support from SNP and Lib Dem politicians.
