According to the line, the two exploration and environmental pioneers have dedicated their lives to "inspire action and engage a global dialogue on climate change" and made history as the "first women team to overwinter in Arctic Svalbard".
Svalbard is also where Hurtigruten Expeditions will conduct its naming ceremony for Fridtjof Nansen on 14 September.
Strom and Sorby said it was "an honour" to serve as godmothers to the expedition cruise ship.
"Over decades of polar exploration, we have witnessed the significant changes and challenges our planet faces," they added.
"Sponsoring Fridtjof Nansen gives us a strengthened platform from where we can increase global awareness and dialogue around climate change – and inspire active engagement and create more ambassadors for our natural world."
In 2019/20, the duo made history after becoming the first women to overwinter on Svalbard, spending a total of 19 months at the remote trapper’s cabin of Bamsebu.
Hurtigruten Group chief executive Daniel Skjeldam described Strom and Sorby as "true pioneers".
"Their dedication and enthusiasm for our planet is not only inspiring, and an extremely valuable contribution for change," he added. "They are true role models, and amazing ambassadors for our shared values."
