An Irish agency is offering UK agents a way of getting around Brexit uncertainty by offering them access to flights priced in euros.
Paul Sexton, director of Cork-based ILC Travel group, said UK-based agencies could access the company’s airfares and issue tickets in euros to avoid potential currency fluctuations as Brexit approaches on March 29.
ILC Travel says UK agencies and tour operators will be given access to the company’s euro-based booking, ticketing and invoicing facilities, as well as being provided with their own unique GDS Irish office ID.
Sexton said the move could create a “competitive edge” for UK agents and operators targeting the Irish market by giving them access to net airline fares.
He added that by issuing the tickets in euros through a tie-up with ILC, UK travel companies would be able to avoid currency fluctuations when selling to EU clients.
“For leisure agents, it opens up the Irish market to that agency if they want to branch out,” Sexton told TTG.
ILC operates brands such as TravelAgent.ie and CorporateTravel.ie.
