Tui UK & Ireland is to close its Coventry office putting an undisclosed number of jobs at risk.
TTG asked the company how many jobs were potentially affected but a spokesperson would not confirm a number.
According to the company’s own website around 600 people work at the location in a variety of roles.
The office is set to close in December 2015. Tui has confirmed that it has entered into a consultation process with staff based at the office as it announces proposals regarding the future operating model of its contact centres, which includes the relocation of roles to other UK sites.
The move is part of the company’s long-term strategy to become an online driven business.
Tui has been reviewing its property portfolio across the UK and also defining how the business will operate in the future.
As a result, Tui has confirmed the closure of the Coventry office and proposes changes to the way its customer contact teams operate.
If implemented, the majority of the roles based in Coventry would move to the company’s Swansea site, where many new jobs are expected to be available for the local community.
Other customer contact roles would move to the Head Office in Luton, with the small remainder outsourced to a specialist provider.
The majority of the non-customer contact roles based in Coventry would also move to the Head Office in Luton.
The company said that all the impacted roles are being put at risk of redundancy and the management team will enter a 45 day consultation process on the proposals, starting on the October 2.
