Tell us about Egyptair’s offering from Birmingham
For more than 94 years, Egyptair has connected people, cultures and economies around the world. And from 25 October it will operate a new year-round service from Birmingham Airport to Cairo.
The service will operate four days a week, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and will be the airport’s first direct connection to Cairo. It expands our Egyptian network alongside Hurghada (HRG) and Sharm El-Sheikh (SSH), and tickets are now on sale, with a variety of booking options and fares.
It’s really exciting, as passengers will be among the first to travel in style onboard Egyptair’s Boeing 737 Max 8, a brand-new addition to the airline’s fleet. This state-of-the-art aircraft is designed to enhance the flying experience and offer a more comfortable journey to the Egyptian capital.
The airline continues to invest heavily in customer experience through fleet modernisation, complimentary WiFi on selected aircraft, enhanced digital services and continual improvements across the passenger journey.
For agents who aren’t as familiar with Egypt, what does it have to offer?
For many customers, Egypt is synonymous with sunshine and the Red Sea. While these remain hugely popular, this is a destination boasting one of the world's richest combinations of culture, luxury, adventure, cruising and multi-centre itineraries. And we want to inspire agents to sell Egypt beyond traditional beach holidays.
Today's travellers are increasingly seeking experiential travel with authentic, immersive experiences, and Egypt can meet this growing demand. Agents can confidently recommend itineraries combining world-famous archaeological sites including the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor and Aswan with luxury Nile cruises, boutique hotels, vibrant local cuisine and unforgettable cultural experiences.
Of course, with its warm climate, Cairo provides a perfect year-round escape from the British weather. Visitors can enjoy mild, sunny winters averaging 20°C, perfect for exploring and warm, bustling summer evenings perfect for outdoor dining.
How can agents use the new route to inspire their customers?
The launch of Egyptair's new direct service between Birmingham Airport and Cairo marks an exciting new opportunity for travel agents across the Midlands and beyond.
Travel agents are increasingly looking for destinations that can unlock higher-value bookings while meeting growing demand for authentic experiences. Egypt is uniquely positioned to deliver both.
From affordable city breaks to luxury Nile cruises, as well as multi-country itineraries and onward connections, the launch of direct Birmingham-Cairo flights gives agents a fresh opportunity to broaden conversations with their customers and create more profitable, experience-led holidays.
The Birmingham route represents far more than another destination from the airport. It creates new opportunities for tourism, business travel, diaspora travel and international connectivity, while strengthening links between the Midlands and one of the world's most fascinating destinations.
Which customers should agents consider Egypt for?
One of Egypt's greatest strengths is its ability to cater for almost every traveller and every budget. Whether customers are seeking affordable family holidays, premium escorted tours, luxury river cruises, tailor-made cultural journeys or once-in-a-lifetime adventures, Egypt offers exceptional value compared with many competing destinations.
Another key selling point is how the destination caters for every budget, from affordable city breaks to ultra-luxury itineraries, with exceptional value across all price points. The new route creates an opportunity to reposition Egypt as a year-round destination, allowing agents to generate higher-value bookings across multiple customer types.
What highlights would you recommend in Cairo?
Beyond the pyramids, there is so much more to see and experience. Explore the historic streets of Islamic Cairo, browse the colourful Khan el-Khalili bazaar, sail the Nile by felucca, and discover the cafés, restaurants, galleries, and neighbourhoods that bring Egypt’s vibrant capital to life.
What onward connections are available to travellers from Cairo?
The new Birmingham service unlocks access to Egyptair’s extensive domestic network, making it easier than ever to combine Cairo with destinations such as Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh within a single itinerary.
Beyond Egypt, Cairo International Airport provides seamless onward connectivity across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The addition of Zanzibar to the Egyptair network from September 2026 creates exciting opportunities for agents looking to package cultural experiences with Indian Ocean beach escapes, while established connections across the airline's wider network offer even greater flexibility.
All of this means Birmingham Airport really is the Midlands' gateway to Egypt and beyond.
