TTG reported last month that Carnival Corp’s one-ship “volunteerism” cruise line would become a shoreside-only experience next year.
Adonia, the vessel that was operating the Fathom itineraries, will return to P&O Cruises’ fleet in June 2017. It went on sale at the end of last week for sailings from Southampton up until spring 2018.
Paul Ludlow, P&O Cruises senior vice president, told TTG: “The demand was phenomenal.
“In one week she booked many thousands of passengers.
“She was always a very loved ship with our guests. Because of her size she can offer itineraries that some larger ships can’t offer, like partial river transits.
“Her popularity meant when she went on sale last week it was a big deal.
“Fathom as a brand will continue and we will be thinking how we can harness the power of what that brand can offer our guests across all the brands in the corporation.”
Ludlow said in the summer months Adonia will offer “shorter-style cruising” and in the winter, “exploration, discovery-type cruising” with slightly longer itineraries.
