The event, over October 7-9, will coincide with the Rugby World Cup, which is heading to Japan this year for the first time.

It will be held at the Prince Hotels and Resorts Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa.

Business sessions, meanwhile, will take lace at the International Convention Centre Pamir, which is directly connected to the hotel.

The venue is centrally located with directed access to Haneda International airport and bullet train services from Shinagawa station.

This year, Gold Medal, Travel 2, Holiday Extras, Cosmos and Royal Caribbean International will host 55 UK travel agents at the convention, giving them an opportunity to hear about the latest developments within the industry and network with colleagues.

Other headline partners include Avis Budget Group, InsideJapan Tours and Royal Caribbean International.

Host partners include the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and ANA – All Nippon Airways, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its London-Tokyo route.

The convention will take place during the Rugby World Cup, with matches across the country, as well as the Japanese Grand Prix, giving delegates opportunities to explore the country.

The JNTO will be operating pre- and post-convention tours for Abta member delegates to showcase the country beyond Tokyo, as are the convention’s Explore Japan partners such as InsideJapan Tours, Cosmos and Wendy Wu Tours.

Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said: “Japan is set to be a fantastic convention and we look forward to hosting delegates in the vibrant setting of Tokyo, providing a programme of thought-provoking and insightful business sessions as well as networking opportunities amongst travel industry colleagues.

“It’s also a great opportunity to show travel professionals all that Japan has to offer – from its incredible cuisine, beautiful landscapes and traditional architecture to its super speed trains and illuminated sky scrapers.

“With a number of international sporting events also taking place over the next couple of years, now is the perfect time to visit and we encourage delegates to book as soon as they can.”

A standard registration fee is available to delegates until end of July, with regional flights available from £599.

Delegates can register at thetravelconvention.com and access the event programme.
