The new flight will launch on May 18, making the west coast destination the airline’s 12th transatlantic route from the airport. The service will connect with 24 other Aer Lingus destinations from Dublin, the bulk of them UK regional airports. Passengers clear US customs and immigration at Dublin before the transatlantic flight.
The new service follows the launch of Miami flights from Dublin in September by Aer Lingus, which will also begin a service to Philadelphia on March 25. The latest addition means Aer Lingus has launched 10 new transatlantic services from Dublin since 2014.
Dublin airport managing director Vincent Harrison said: “Dublin airport’s transatlantic traffic has increased by 67% in the past five years and Dublin is now the fifth largest airport in Europe for North American connectivity after Heathrow, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.”
Seattle will be the third city on the US west coast for Aer Lingus, joining San Francisco and Los Angeles in its network. Seattle will be operated on an Airbus A330 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
