SABS announced a withdrawal from the back office market in May, stating it would remove and discontinue support for its Quantum and older Traveller platform. Tech specialist Dolphin Dynamics said it had secured 10 new clients as a result, with others in negotiations before access to their existing system is lost.
Dolphin’s sales and marketing manager Andy Davies said deadline for the turn-off of existing systems was approaching: “There are probably a few dozen that have been affected in different ways. There’s a different timeline dependent on which system is being used; for some it’s the end of August, others have until the end of the year,” he said.
“We’ve actually been helping agents wishing to move to Dolphin from Traveller for some time, including a wave of Irish agents who signed-up for Dolphin when faced with a forced move between SABS’ Traveller and Quantum systems just a few months back.”
He said Dolphin was offering 50% off upfront costs including training and set-up for those switching, adding the monthly fee was negotiable.
Dolphin said it had adapted its implementation process and developed a utility to help migrate booking data, enabling Traveller and Quantum users to go live on Dolphin “within weeks” of signing up.
Among those already migrated are Dawson & Sanderson, Oasis Travel in Northern Ireland and Shandon Travel in Cork.
Dolphin’s managing director Chuck Richardson added: “We are doing everything within our power to help the myriad of travel businesses affected by SABS Technology’s exit from the back office market.”
