Tradewind Voyages has cancelled Golden Horizon’s inaugural 2021 winter season in the Caribbean due to reported "resistance" from guests about travelling in bubbles.
The line said the move to cancel 17 planned voyages between December and March 2022 was also brought about by customer concerns about accessibility to certain islands, which Tradewind Voyages said was "a key part of the brand experience".
Alan McGrory, chief executive of Tradewind Voyages, said the current "culmination of ongoing travel restrictions in place for the winter season" does not allow the company "to deliver exceptional customer experience".
"Our commitment is always to deliver an outstanding experience for our guests," he added.
"With so many variables at play for us this winter, we have made the tough decision to cancel these Caribbean voyages. Instead, we plan to focus all our efforts on delivering our European 2022 summer season and return to the Caribbean for our winter season in 2022."
Golden Horizon, which is thought to be the world’s largest tall ship, will be based in the Mediterranean from May to October 2022 before repositioning in the Caribbean for the winter season.
Three new Mediterranean collections have been confirmed for its summer season next year which will begin in Palma in May and end in Piraeus in October.
The programme will offer 22 different voyages and include visits to Spain, France, Italy, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey.
