Griffiths was recognised with the AWTE’s honorary award at the associations annual Christmas lunch for he "outstanding contribution and ongoing support to the travel industry over the past 18 months".
The AWTE highlighted her efforts to hold ministers to account during live seminars and spearhead "industry-leading" campaigns such as #SaveTravel, #SaveTravelJobs and Holiday to Help Out.
Advantage Travel Partnership chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said was highly commended for the same award for her "tireless" work advocating and lobbying on behalf of the entire travel industry.
Basia Kolosinska, director of C&M Travel Recruitment, was presented the AWTE’s Business Impact award recognising her "truly extraordinary" passion and positivity over the past 20 months, and her dedication to sharing her expertise with the wider industry.
Abta head of membership Danny Waine was named the winner of AWTE’s Male Ambassador award, reserved for a male member of the travel industry who encourages, enables and supports women in business.
The AWTE said Waine had played a vital role helping people find their feet, nurturing new talent and encouraging others to progress, despite the pandemic challenges. Sunvil managing director Chris Wright was also highly commended for his work to encourage diversity and inclusion in travel.
Finally, Holiday Extras was named Company of the Year in recognition of the opportunities it has afforded women to progress in travel. "The business supports women with single parent issues, health and wellbeing, as well as other women’s related topics in a safe space to make things easier for those who need to feel heard, seen and valued," said the AWTE.
