Etihad Aviation Group and Tui AG are in talks to set up a “strong European leisure airline group”.
The proposal would see the creation of the new airline group to contribute to the leisure operations of the airberlin group and German TUIfly company, including all aircraft currently operated under wet-lease agreements.
Once up and running it would serve a network of tourist destinations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland combining “TUI’s state-of-the-art distribution capacity” and “supported by the expertise of Etihad Aviation Group”.
Tui AG, Etihad Aviation Group and airberlin said they will finalise an in-principle agreement in due course while any agreement entered into will be subject to all necessary corporate and regulatory approvals.
