Ashton is an executive board member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and chairs the TUI Care Foundation’s advisory committee.
The foundation said Ashton was a “leading authority on sustainability” in travel and a “perfect fit” for its board.
Her appointment was unanimously supported by the charity’s board of trustees at its last meeting.
“I’m delighted to join the Travel Foundation as a trustee,” said Ashton. “This is an exciting time for the charity, which is uniquely placed to help destination stakeholders as they seek to respond to the UN’s ambitious Sustainable Development Goals.
