Virgin Atlantic has pledged to stop assisting the Home Office with forcible deportations of suspected illegal immigrants.
The airline has previously provided seats on its commercial flights to UK detainees and any security staff accompanying them, The Guardian reports.
It comes amid pressure over the deportation of Windrush generation migrants and following concerns raised by the LGBT community.
A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson, cited by The Guardian, said: “Last month, we made the decision to end all involuntary deportations on our network, and have already informed the Home Office.
“We believe this decision is in the best interest of our customers and people, and is in keeping with our values as a company.”
The Home Office has so far declined to comment.
