The new 13-key camp is located within Zambia’s Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest protected areas, supporting the Government and African Parks’ long-term ecological restoration.
Set along almost seven kilometres of exclusive river frontage, Anantara Kafue is Zambia’s only safari lodge elevated at least 3.5 metres above the ground, with every villa raised on timber platforms to preserve wildlife corridors while offering uninterrupted views across the Kafue River.
Its opening coincides with the park’s wildlife resurgence, where hippos, elephants, lions, leopards, antelope and more than 500 bird species thrive. Guests can experience the landscape through game drives, river safaris, guided walks, bush picnics and catch-and-release fishing.
Designed by Meg Ralph Spaces and recognised with LIV Hospitality Design Awards, the camp operates entirely on solar power, uses onsite water purification and bottling, eliminates single-use plastics and employs prefabricated structures to protect existing trees, while soft red lighting minimises disruption to nocturnal wildlife.
Accommodation includes three Horizon Terrace Suites – the highest in Zambia – suspended 14.3 metres above the ground with glass elevator access, expansive decks and rooftop star beds. Nine Pool and Bush Villas feature private plunge pools and in-room spa spaces, while the 400-square-metre Presidential Villa offers exclusive boat access, a private spa zone and dedicated host service.
Dining is fully flexible, from sunrise breakfasts and sunset dinners aboard a floating pontoon to modern Zambian cuisine at Luzuba Harvestry, cocktails at Twalumba Bar & Lounge and hands-on cooking experiences through Spice Spoons.
Wellness is woven throughout the stay, with in-room Anantara Spa treatments, private steam facilities and Zambia’s first floating Technogym fitness platform for yoga and personal training on the river.
