The EU Entry-Exit System (EES) has yet to have a significant impact on travel from the UK, according to Abta, although the association has nonetheless renewed its call for EES contingency measures to be rolled over into 2027 – particularly now the EU seemingly delayed its plans to launch its Esta-style visa waiver.

Abta has played down the impact of the EU Entry-Exit System on people's holidays

Abta revealed the findings of its latest Holiday Habits survey at its annual Travel Convention in Madeira on Tuesday (13 October), with just 6% of the more than 2,000 respondents telling Abta the EES process had resulted in them being much less likely to travel to the EU.

Almost one in two travellers to Europe (46%) have been through EES since the EU began rolling out the system late last year. Of those, half (50%) said it had caused queues of less than 30 minutes, and 87% less than an hour.
