The SCC, which represents 12,000 Scottish companies and 30 affiliated local chambers, said Dobson's promotion recognised her "significant leadership" across Scotland's travel sector, describing her as a "driving force in championing travel and tourism within Scotland".
SCC president Rodney Ayre welcomed Dobson’s appointment, highlighting the value of her travel industry expertise and her "strategic insight" across international markets. He also emphasised leaders like Dobson bring essential experience as "Scottish businesses face challenging economic conditions".
Barrhead, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, launched a major brand refresh this year in the hopes of cementing its position as the "go-to travel agent on the high street".
"I'm honoured and proud to have been asked to become vice-president, particularly at such a pivotal time for Scotland’s businesses when the decisions by government are having such a direct impact on the very survival of businesses across the high street and beyond," said Dobson.
She added: "The SCC also shares my passion for mentorship, and I look forward to helping create more opportunities to inspire a new generation of future business leaders."
