Giles, who has previously worked for Ponant and Silversea Cruises, announced the news on his personal LinkedIn page. It comes after he was made redundant by Crystal last October.
"I’m incredibly proud to be part of a brand with such a rich heritage, renowned for delivering exceptional luxury experiences aboard beautifully designed small ships sailing to all seven continents," he wrote [of the Hapag-Lloyd appointment].
"I’m looking forward to building and strengthening partnerships across the UK and Ireland, supporting our valued trade partners, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the business."
Giles has been open on social media about being made redundant from Crystal last year, and has been updating followers on his job search. He added he was excited for his next chapter and the opportunities ahead.

Hapag-Lloyd has a fleet of five ships on which the onboard language is both German and English.
The fleet comprises of two luxury ships – Europa and Europa 2 – and three modern expedition vessels – Hanseatic Nature, Hanseatic Inspiration and Hanseatic Spirit.
