Starting in January, Ben Boesch, who joined the company in 2023 to run its strategic agenda, driving performance improvement and international expansion, has already been working closely with Torrilla for the past two years, according to Dertour UK.
Boesch will take a lead on the strategic direction of the UK group, looking after the central functions including IT, finance, HR, sustainability and communications as well as overseeing Kuoni's business, Ingham's, Santa's Lapland, Inntravel and Explore.
The respective managing directors of those businesses and directors of central functions will report into Boesch.
Torrilla, meanwhile, will manage Carrier, CV Villas, Kirker Holidays, Journey Latin America, Jules Verne and Solmar Villas. Similarly, each managing director will report into Torrilla.
The company confirmed it anticipates the joint chief executive structure will be in place for a year, with a view to Torrilla retiring towards the end of 2026.
It called Boesch "a highly experienced travel-industry executive with a strong commercial focus and a track record of delivering growth, strategic clarity and operational transformation across international markets".
Prior to joining Detour, Boesch was chief digital officer at VFS Global, a visa services provider, where he built teams across four continents and delivered digital platforms and service enhancements used by millions of travellers each year.
Outlining the group's "exciting future", Boesch said: "I know already there is a lot of talent in the team and I’m very excited about what we can achieve together.
"We’ve got some of the most respected specialist brands in the market within our UK group all with huge potential and I can’t wait to get started.”
Torrilla added: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome Ben into our family of businesses. I look forward to working closely with him in taking our UK group to the next level.
"We've already set off on our journey in building a fantastic team with plenty of shared learning that we are already putting into practice across the whole group."
It comes four months after Detour Group completed its acquisition of Inghams owner Hotelplan Group, a move that saw Hotelplan UK chief executive Joe Ponte leave the business.
