Virgin Atlantic will launch a seasonal service between Heathrow and Phuket next year, marking the first scheduled direct flight from the UK to Thailand’s largest island.
Operating on a Boeing 787-9, the route will run three times a week from winter 2026.
Package holidays with Virgin Atlantic Holidays and selected trade partners will be available from 30 October 2025, with flight-only bookings opening 26 November 2025.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our new direct service to Phuket, giving our customers a flavour of one of Southeast Asia’s most captivating destinations,” said Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic.
“As well as making the trip more convenient, they can enjoy exploring Thailand’s unique heritage, natural beauty and delicious cuisine. We can’t wait for our customers to experience our trademark hospitality on their next unforgettable journey.”
Departing London on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and returning from Phuket on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, the route will feature 31 upper class, 35 premium, and 192 economy seats. Passengers will also be able to enjoy Virgin Atlantic’s signature full-service experience, including complimentary meals and drinks, as well as more than 300 hours of inflight entertainment and onboard WiFi.
The Phuket route expands Virgin Atlantic’s winter sun portfolio, joining seasonal services to Cancun, the Maldives, Dubai and Cape Town.
The news comes just a few days after the Tourism Authority of Thailand encouraged agents to "continue selling" the destination following the death of Queen Mother Sirikit. The organisation assured the trade that, while an official period of national mourning has been declared, all tourism services, transportation, hotels, attractions, hospitality venues across the country will operate as normal.
Packages start from £999 per person.
