Celebrity Cruises has revealed that its first hotly anticipated Edge-class ship will debut in autumn 2018.
Two new ships will be delivered between 2018 and 2020, but the line is remaining tight-lipped on their nature.
Speaking at an event for trade partners and the media in London on Monday, Brian Abel, vice-president, hotel operations at Celebrity Cruises, said: “We think it’s going to change the industry, like the Solstice-class ship did.”
Abel also revealed that its two new ships in the Galapagos – the 48-passenger Celebrity Xperience and 16-passenger Celebrity Xploration - will enter dry dock for renovation towards the end of this year, and will emerge Celebrity-branded by February 2017.
“We are not only making physical upgrades, but all of our programming will be on the ship too,” said Abel.
The two vessels will join the 100-person Celebrity Xpedition, which has been sailing in the Galapagos for around 10 years.
Abel said it is hoped that next year Celebrity Constellation will undergo the same multi-million dollar renovations that Infinity Summit and Millennium have.
“That’s not 100% approved but we’re looking good and we want to make sure those four ships stay consistent as we move forward,” he said.
“As we work on our new ship Edge, and look at Solstice, we want to make sure our other ships stay relevant.”
