Cook pilots call three more days of strikes

Industrial action has been scheduled for September 23 and 29 and October 6. Pilots are taking action on what they say is a real-term pay cut and over travel perks.

The dispute prompted the first strike by Cook’s crews in more than 40 years last week after the company failed to get a High Court injunction to halt it.

Talks at ACAS will start tomorrow and continue on September 13,15,20 and 21.

BALPA general secretary Brian Strutton said: "I’m pleased that last week’s strike by Thomas Cook pilots has kickstarted negotiations. We will now focus on trying to make progress at five days of ACAS talks over the next two weeks.

“However, there is still a significant gap between us and Thomas Cook so we cannot assume that those talks will succeed. That’s why we’ve set new strike dates. We urge Thomas Cook to come to the ACAS table with an acceptable offer so we won’t need to use them."
