Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess is to be redeployed to South America next year.
The ship, which was involved in a high profile Covid-19 outbreak in Japan earlier this year, will sail its maiden season in the region from December 2021 to March 2022 and operate itineraries to Antarctica.
The vessel will replace Sapphire Princess and also offer two new Pacific Crossings to and from Asia in autumn 2021 and spring 2022 between Los Angeles and either Singapore or Yokohama (near Tokyo).
Diamond was placed in quarantine off the coast of the Japanese city in February after it became one of the first cruise ships to be affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result of the redeployment, three Sapphire Baja Peninsula & Sea of Cortez cruises and three Hawaiian Islands cruises in autumn 2021 and spring 2022 will be cancelled.
