EasyJet delivers record profits

EasyJet has said it expects the boom in air travel across Europe to continue as it reports record profits.

The low-cost carrier reported a pre-tax profit of £686 million for the year to September 30, up 18% on last year’s total.

Passengers increased by 6% to 68.6 million, with an annual load factor of 91.5%, an increase of 0.9 percentage points.

Easyjet’s outlook remains positive. The airline said it expects “market demand to remain strong” with it well placed "to capture significant value from favourable trends in both leisure and business markets."

Carolyn McCall, easyJet chief executive said: "Our outlook for the longer term is positive. We expect demand in our markets to be sustained and for easyJet to continue to be a winner in its markets.
