Newly appointed, Yehia Rashed, unveiled the proposal last week, with hopes to reinvigorate Egyptian tourism following a turbulent end to last year.
The scheme, which focuses on six main areas of improvement, includes the upgrading of tourist facilities, an increase in sustainable accommodation and transport and an emphasis on working with Egypt’s international tourism partners.
Also detailed in the targets is a drive to work more closely with the country’s national carrier, EgyptAir to develop new destinations.
