Hurghada is the UK’s fastest-growing winter sun destination, according to booking research from On the Beach.
The Egyptian Red Sea location led the Moroccan coastal city of Agadir and Cape Verde as the OTA’s three destinations with the greatest percentage increase in bookings year-on-year.
On the Beach revealed Spain and its Canary Islands as the overall most popular winter sun destination among British holidaymakers with Tenerife the number one choice.
Spain dominated the top destinations list - taking all five spots - with Lanzarote the second most popular hotspot, followed by Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Costa Blanca.
Outside the top five, the Algarve was named the sixth most popular destination, while Turkey secured eighth placed.
On the Beach said Turkey was “all set for a return as a popular summer hot spot" for Britons next year.
Alistair Daly, chief marketing officer said: “Spain has always been a popular destination among British holidaymakers but it really is dominating this winter sun season.
"Our bookings also show that Hurghada and Agadir are growing in popularity and we expect this trend continue into next year.”
