Electric taxis aiming to offset 18 tons of CO2 at WTM London

Electric taxi company Sherbet London is aiming to offset 18 tons of CO2 emissions during this year’s WTM London.

The official taxi company for WTM London is hoping to reach that goal by providing 40 electric cabs for 1,000 one-way airport transfers and taxi rides within the capital.

A typical diesel taxi emits 222g of CO2 per km and a return flight from Heathrow airport to John F Kennedy International airport can release 986,000g of CO2 into the atmosphere.

With each Sherbet electric cab emitting 29g of CO2 per km, the campaign is expected to offset more than 18 of those JFK to Heathrow returns or 76 European flights in less than a week.

All of the CO2 offset measurements will be displayed on screens at WTM London and on the event’s website.
