Explore this week rolled out its 2022 brochure, featuring a mix of its classic discovery, walking and cycling tours. New itineraries feature trips to Pakistan, trekking in Oman and overland adventures in Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Its two-week Karakoram Highway overland tour sees the operator return to Pakistan for the first time since 2001; the 13-night itinerary takes in the country’s lush valley landscapes, mountain passes and glaciers, and leads in from £2,299pp including accommodation, breakfast, transport, excursions and the services of a tour leader.
Journey Through Arabia, meanwhile, is an 11-day overland tour from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, starting on the Red Sea and journeying through the desert taking in the region’s ancient cities including Hegra and Petra. Guests will camp in the Wadi Rum desert and take a boat trip to the islands of Umluj.
The tour leads in from £2,599pp and includes 11 nights’ accommodation, three in a desert camp, breakfast, some additional meals, transport, excursions and the services of a tour leader.
Also new for 2022 are Explore’s London2 rail journeys, a collection of six overland journeys in Europe. Routes include London-Athens, London-Istanbul and a three-week London-Morocco itinerary.
London2 small-group tours will feature rail travel exclusively, and visit multiple cities en route. Guests can return by rail or air, or choose to extend their visit. Explore managing director Michael Edwards said the London2 trips offered a "truly immersive way to travel", placing emphasis on the importance and "appreciation" of the journey itself.
Itineraries include London2 Poland and Ukraine by Train which starts in Berlin and meanders across eastern Europe exploring the region’s Jewish history, with guests taking an old Soviet-style night train to Lviv in Ukraine. The tour leads in from £1,599pp including accommodation (seven nights hotel, one overnight train), breakfast and a tour leader.
Explore is already guaranteeing nearly 40% of its 2022 European departures, and expects this figure to grow – a move it hopes will offer agents greater confidence to go out to clients with the operator’s new offering.
Agents can request a copy of the brochure via their business development manager or via TradeGate.
