Extinction Rebellion, the group whose supporters have successfully shut down parts of central London this week, has confirmed it is planning a protest at Heathrow on Easter Friday.
In a statement, Heathrow said: “We are working with the authorities to address any threats of protests which could disrupt the airport.
“While we respect the right to peaceful protest and agree with the need to act on climate change, we don’t agree passengers should have their well-earned Easter holiday plans with family and friends disrupted.
“Passengers should contact their airlines for up to date information on their journeys.”
Abta expects more than two million Brits to head overseas over the Easter weekend (19-22 April), including “hundreds of thousands” leaving Heathrow and well in excess of half a million from London’s airports.
