British tourists travelling to the EU will continue to get free health cover even after Brexit.
Speaking to the BBC over the weekend, Brexit secretary David Davis said the government will ask the EU to continue with the current Ehic scheme.
If they refuse to, he added the government would foot the annual bill of £155 million instead.
The Telegraph reported him as adding: “We’re looking to see if we can get a continuation of the EHIC scheme as it now exists and, of course, if we can’t get one then we would provide one unilaterally.”
