Funway Holidays has expanded its Caribbean portfolio to include Dominica for the first time.
The operator has teamed up with Discover Dominica to launch a trade-focused marketing campaign spanning mailshots, social media and flyers, while Funway’s trade team will hit the road to introduce Dominica to agents in person.
Product manager Malcolm Davies said the launch followed a 5% year-on-year increase in Caribbean bookings to date.
“Dominica is one of the Caribbean’s best-kept secrets, so we’re pleased to offer somewhere off the beaten track.”
Davies said Dominica’s “abundance” of natural attractions made it attractive to individual travellers and eco-adventurers. The country is also home to the longest hiking trail in the Caribbean.
Funway’s 2020 Caribbean and Mexico brochure will feature four pages on Dominica, including the operator’s top- five experiences.
These include hiking to Emerald Pool and its 40-foot waterfall or relaxing in the Wotten Waven hot sulphur springs and mud baths.
In total, Funway will offer 38 different tour options in Dominica and feature eight hotels, from 2.5- to five-star options.
Davies added Dominica had risen to prominence with more customers seeking beach breaks combined with exploration, as well as its focus on the environment.
He also said new properties such as Calbrits Spa Kempinski offered unique luxury stays in the island’s pristine jungle.
A seven-night stay at the five-star Jungle Bay departing 16 September 2020 leads in from £2,699pp including flights, full-board and a jungle wellness package.
