Chief executive of the Chinese ruled territory, Carrie Lam, announced the changes on Monday (21 March), which will see quarantined reduced for overseas arrivals.
From 1 April, Hong Kong’s ban on flights from Australia, Canada, France, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and the United States will end, Reuters reports.
Hotel quarantine, meanwhile, will be cut from 14 days to seven if arrivals test negative, while social distancing measures will be relaxed from 21 April.
Hong Kong had previously pursued a Covid-zero strategy, but has changed tack in recent weeks with the territory currently suffering with one of the worst rates of new Covid-19 infection in the world.
