Mondrian London has been rebranded Sea Containers London, with Lore Group taking over management of the river-side property from sbe, Stephen Glennon reports.
The Sea Containers Restaurant, Dandelyan bar and 12th Knot rooftop bar, as well as the hotel’s aqua spa and Curzon cinema, will continue to operate within the hotel as normal.
The rebrand will see the hotel interior refreshed and staff receive new uniforms.
Sea Containers London, meanwhile, will join Lore’s portfolio of independent hotels.
Billy Skelli-Cohen, Lore Group chief executive, said: “We’re very excited about this new era and next step in the hotel’s story. Our incredible hotel team will continue to offer guests an unrivalled experience at Sea Containers London. We have lots of initiatives in the pipeline and look forward to welcoming all our guests in 2019 and beyond.”
Key developments include a new concept from famed bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana, aka Mr Lyan, for the hotel’s Dandelyan bar, which will relaunch in March.
And while the hotel’s original Tom Dixon design will remain largely the same following the transition, the hotel will receive a variety of interior updates building on the existing design.
New staff uniforms will take cues from the so-called “golden age” of transatlantic travel and the “contemporary street style” of London’s South Bank.
The hotel will also debut a new graphic identity and branding featuring classic imagery and pop art illustrations reflecting the building’s nautical history.
