Newcastle airport has become the latest airport to announce an on-site Covid testing facility.
The airport has teamed up with two local testing firms to help passengers meet any pre-travel testing requirements.
Newcastle-based NPH Group and MDNA Life Sciences will offer PCR tests, and when possible, rapid antigen and antibody tests.
Slots are available to book now, with the facility – situated in the airport’s premium meet and greet car park – set to open on Tuesday (1 December).
PCR tests will cost £99pp, with the airport promising certified results within 36 to 48 hours.
Richard Knight, Newcastle airport chief operating officer, said he hoped the move would boost people’s hopes of travelling to destinations requiring proof of a pre-travel negative Covid test, such as Spain and the Canary Islands.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for our passengers to travel to their destination," said Knight.
"As such, we have worked hard to develop a relationship with two highly experienced and well-regarded local companies with Covid-19 testing facilities."
Passengers can book their tests via the NPH website, the firm’s chief executive Mark Philpott confirmed.
