Princess Cruises will offer passengers its Ocean Medallion wearable device on six more ships in 2020.
Ocean Medallion is the same size as a 10p piece and replaces more traditional cruise cards. The Medallion makes it quicker and easier for passengers to get on and off the ship.
Once onboard, it opens guests’ doors when they approach, while its ‘compass’ feature means guests can find and stay connected with friends and family onboard, as well as navigate their way around the ship. It also allows guests to order drinks and snacks, plus holiday essentials, which can be delivered anywhere onboard.
Ocean Medallion will be offered on the following ships next year:
· Ruby Princess on 27 January
· Grand Princess on 29 March 29
· Enchanted Princess on 15 June, the ship’s launch date
· Emerald Princess on 16 August
· Coral Princess on 16 October
· Island Princess on 20 December
The Medallion is already available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess. It will be introduced on Crown Princess on 24 July, making it the first ship with UK departures to offer the device.
Sky Princess, the line’s next ship, will launch with the technology when it enters service on 20 October 2019. The ship will then spend a short season sailing the Mediterranean.
Overall, 11 Princess Cruises ships will be Ocean Medallion-activated by the end of 2020.
Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice president UK and Europe, said: “The Ocean Medallion has proved a groundbreaking piece of travel technology and the feedback from our guests, in terms of how it has helped enhance and improve their cruise holiday, has been overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s great news, both for our guests and crew, that we will be offering the Medallion on even more ships throughout next year.”
