A US-based rail specialist has taken over Railbookers and its collapsed sister package brand Travel Definitions Ltd, which failed this week.

Company failures will increase, Begbies Traynor warns

Travel Definitions, which had an Atol but which was not a consumer brand, had only 8 passengers abroad and 250 forward bookings and the CAA said all suppliers had been paid. Both it and Railbookers, which remains in business, have been taken over by Yankee Leisure Group.

A Railbookers’ spokesperson said: “All forward bookings that were serviced by Travel Definitions are now serviced by the new company.”

Railbookers will be headed by Peter Traynor, previously with tour operator Collette; who joins as managing director. Railbookers, which specialises in tailor-made train itineraries, has worked with YLG since 2008.
