TTG Media is proud to announce the return of the LGBT-friendly Travel Company of the Year award.
Back again for the fourth year, the category focuses on how travel firms have created inclusive working environments for their employees, and/or how they have improved services for their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender customers in the past 12 months.
Sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority, the award will be presented to the UK-based tour operator, travel agency or other supplier of travel that has delivered the most innovative and/or impactful LGBT-travel-related initiatives in the last 12 months.
Initiatives could include specific staff training, the signing of the TTG Diversity Charter, working to support the wider LGBT community in their area, implementing an inclusive marketing campaign, or working with the LGBT sector in other ways.
The initiatives should have been implemented within the 12-month period to June 2019.
Sophie Griffiths, editor of TTG, said: “In April this year, TTG underwent a redesign and announced a new vision – for smarter, better, fairer travel. We are passionate about working with the travel sector to improve its focus on diversity and inclusion and championing those in the industry who are working to tackle this.”
Elsewhere, TTG Media has also launched a new award celebrating travel companies that champion responsible tourism, sponsored by A-Rosa and Shearings.
The Responsible Travel Initiative of the Year award will be presented to the UK-based tour operator, travel agency or other supplier of travel that has delivered the most innovative and/or impactful responsible travel initiative in the last 12 months.
This could be a successful responsible tourism-focused marketing campaign; the launch of a successful new community or environmental project; the creation of a new sustainable or ethical tourism product or brand; or changes to internal processes and business practices within a business that have led to lower-impact operations in the UK.
Initiatives for both awards should have been implemented within the 12-month period to June 2019.
Written submissions will be assessed by a panel of industry experts, with a shortlist to be announced in August. The winner will be announced at the TTG Travel Awards on 16 September.
