The new development will be located across two floors in the landside area of the airport, with a welcome space on the ground floor and bar and platform above, occupying space currently used as offices.
Since visitors will be able to access the platform without having to pass through to departures, like the Landside Café, everyone will be able to take advantage of the area whether flying or not.
Work is set to begin on the development before the end of the year, with it due to be opened for next year’s summer season.
Tom Harrison, associate director at Corstorphine & Wright Architects, which is designing the project, said: "This is another exciting and different project we’re proud to be working on for Teesside Airport.
"We know how popular the old viewing platform has been over the years and we’re working hard to get this right, with the perfect elevation so people can enjoy uninterrupted views of the aircraft."
Those who visit the viewing platform will also receive two hours free parking if they make a purchase in the new bar.
