Thomas Cook Airlines is to continue its Gatwick-Cape Town flights for winter 2017/18 and revealed that it will fly from Birmingham to Cape Verde for the first time.

Group airline sale 'paused'

The carrier launches the Cape Town flights on December 15 this year, hoping that the weak South African rand will attract customers. The announcement that it will now continue the flights the following winter is a sign that sales have been good.

Flights from Birmingham to Cape Verde will run from November 2 2017 until April 26 2018, with fares from £139 one way.
