The work will be done by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Preservation, which says it is prepared for any protests by monks and the temple’s supporters over the action.
It is planned that the tigers will be rehomed in the Ratchaburi province where the state will take responsibility for the big cats.
No reason has been given for the removal of the animals from the temple and tourist attraction west of Bangkok, although there is speculation it may be related to an investigation into three missing tigers.
The latest action comes soon after the recent removal of six rare Moon Bears after temple staff could not produce the official documentation proving they were obtained legitimately.
A total of 400 people were involved in the bears’ removal after monks and their supporters protested against the action.
