Cambridgeshire-based Ponders Travel has established itself as a collection point for clothing and children’s items to aid the Red Cross, and has also set up a Just Giving page for the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
In a post on its Facebook page, the agency urged customers to donate “basics for Ukrainian refugees on the Ukraine-Poland border”.
These include nappies; new women’s underwear; new children’s underwear (pants and vests, all sizes); new adult socks; new children’s socks; sanitary products; and thermal clothing.
The agency said it would also have collection buckets in its shop, in addition to its JustGiving page, to raise additional funds for the Red Cross.
Clare Dudley, managing director of Ponders Travel, told TTG the Facebook post raised more than £90 in the first hour since going live, and she urged other agents to launch similar appeals or collections.
"All the Ponders team spent the weekend concerned and heartbroken from all that is happening in Ukraine. We felt compelled to help in anyway we could. We know many people feel the same as us, so decided to react sooner rather than later with the hope that our efforts will help some people at this dreadful time.
"I would urge any other agents that feel they have a little space, to take donations as recommended by the Red Cross, and indeed any fund raising to help. It is easy to set up a JustGiving page and all the money goes directly to the British Red Cross Ukraine appeal."
