Travel Counsellors has launched its first app hoping to “enhance” agents’ relationships with clients through a number of features.
The myTC app was rolled out worldwide this week and allows agents to provide a “bespoke platform” from which customers can access travel information, trip itineraries and documents.
Agents can update travel information while their customer is overseas within 60 seconds when the device is connected to the internet, as well as providing personalised images and trip notes on activities and destinations for their client to read.
Holidaymakers can also phone and email their counsellor using the device if they need them urgently.
In return, customers can share their booking details online to promote their counsellor using the app’s integrated social media platforms, which also link to the agent’s website.
Rob Snelson, IT director at Travel Counsellors, told TTG : “When we started planning what would go in the app we had a wall full of post it notes with loads of different ideas, but we knew we wanted to keep it simple and make sure travellers always have the information they need available to them when they need it.
“Using the app means that the customers don’t have to search through all their emails while they’re on their travels, and they know where the important things are.”
The software was created with mobile app developer Apadmi and was unveiled this week after being road-tested by 25 UK agents and their customers last month.
It is available to be downloaded from both the Apple Store and
Google Store. Snelson added that the app’s contact functions were “very important” given the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty facing travellers, and said providing clients with a direct link to their counsellor made them “feel secure”.
“We don’t want the app to replace the relationship, we want it to enhance it, and that’s why we’ve focused on making it as personal as we can which really helps our travel counsellors,” Snelson said.
