Tui Group reports first positive operating profit for the first nine months of a financial year

Tui Group has reported a reduction in “seasonal swing” following the sale of Travelopia and the disposal of its stake in Hapag-Lloyd.

Introduction

In a trading statement for the third financial quarter, chief executive Fritz Joussen said the “digitalisation” of the group’s businesses and services was “progressing well”.

He added that for the first time, the group had delivered a positive operating result for the first nine months of a financial year.

In the period under review Tui Group recorded turnover growth of 16.41% to €4.94 billion, up from €4.24 billion the previous year.

Underlying Ebita (earnings before interest, taxes, and amortization) climbed 18.7% to €191 million.
